Bringing of Pets to Brazil

According to the Brazilian legislation, animals who enter Brazil is required an International Health Certificate (IHC) from your local veterinarian, which should then be legalised by the Brazilian Consulate in your country at least seven days from its issuance. The owner will also need to obtain proof of rabies vaccination within a certain period. Pets are then allowed entry to Brazil within 30 days from the date of the issuance of the IHC. Brazil also requires sanitary and phitosanitary certificates to prove that no contagious diseases have been detected in the place where the animal(s) came from, up to 40 days before flying to Brazil. Moreover, pets other than dogs, cats, and birds will be required approval from your local government. Aside from that, you will need to make a reservation for your pet yourself, as agents do not normally do this. You will also need to buy a refundable ticket, in case your pet is not allowed to fly with you.
