Hotel Safety Tips for Travellers

Even when you are staying in the comforts of a fancy hotel, it is still advisable for you to take extra caution with your valuables and important documents. Before you leave for your trip, make sure you have photocopied your I.D.s and other forms of identification, your passport, plane tickets, and credit cards. Also, photograph your luggage and valuables and bring the pictures with you. Having these will make it easier for you to trace and claim lost items.

When checking in to the hotel, keep your luggage close to you at all times when you are not yet in your room. While registering, do not leave your credit card lying around the front desk and ask the clerk not to announce your room number. Make sure you instruct them to screen all calls before directing them to your room and to consult you before allowing a visitor to go to your quarters.

In your bedroom, keep your doors locked and look through the peephole before opening the door. If you are going out, deposit your valuables at the front desk and do not leave them out in the open if you cannot take them with you.
